“Do you know when Jesus will come back to earth?”
From a boy called Ethan, a direct teenager question shot like an arrow to its target.
“I can tell you”, said Jackson the coangel, “that no-one knows the time of Jesus’ return, except God, so I certainly don’t know. However, I will tell you about some things that are indicators of his soon return. In the past few years there has been an unusual convergence of events in the USA that taken together may be regarded as a warning from God that the time is near. I will summarize five events if you are interested”.
“I sure am”, replied Ethan.

“The first event is two new movies:
There are two new movies coming out this spring. One is about Noah’s Ark, starring Russell Crowe (as Noah), Jennifer Connelly, and Anthony Hopkins. This movie is about the end of the world 4,000-5,000 years ago, and the trailer makes it look like a high-suspense movie. The other movie is about the book Heaven is for Real”.

“The second event is the discovery of Sodom:
This archeological discovery supports the Bible as a credible historical document, even in one of its earliest records (Genesis chapter 19, almost 4,000 years ago). The discovery of the huge city, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah by a comet, have been pieced together in a recent book. It implies Biblical truth cannot be discarded as a bunch of fairy-tales”.

“What did they dig up to prove that it was Sodom?” asked Ethan eagerly.
“The archeologist found an unusually thick layer of destruction with collapsed walls, broken mud-bricks, burnt debris, and skeletal remains, all inside a one-meter layer of ash. The ancient city, a very large one, was utterly destroyed.

One artifact had a layer of glaze just one-eighth of an inch thick. The glaze could only have been caused by a cometary shock wave of intense heat which lasted about one millisecond. The glazed artifact looked like trinitite, the name for melted and fused sand caused by the first atom bomb exploded in the sky above Trinity site just a couple hours south of Albuquerque.
“That is crazy stuff”, said Ethan shaking his head.

“The picture you are developing of the warning from God is pretty convincing”, I added. “Would Duck Dynasty fit into your picture?”
Jackson nodded. “As reality television, Duck Dynasty portrays the lives of the Robertson family known for their long beards and their Christian views. It’s a rags-to-riches story based on the discovery and sales of a special duck call invention called Duck Commander. The TV show has broken ratings records on the A&E channel, and on cable, so here also the Jesus message is being spread strongly”.

“The third event is the publication of three books proving heaven exists:
In the past few years along came three remarkable books, each authentic, which verify the Biblical concept of heaven even though each book contains different images of heaven.

The first: Heaven is For Real (by Todd Burpo) talks about heaven witnessed by a four-year old boy named Colton, which took place during the boy’s operation for a ruptured appendix. The boy saw angels, was held by Jesus, and even met a baby sister who had died due to a miscarriage. Although only four years old, the boy’s memories agreed closely with Biblical statements about heaven.

The second: In Proof of Heaven, a neurosurgeon has a near-death experience and claims he went to heaven. Dr Eben Alexander witnessed a female angel who accompanied him, along with a multitude of butterflies. He discusses the Core, where sits God. The doctor mentions feelings of unconditional love that were so intense that he concluded love is at the center of the universe. This is essentially the same as what the Bible said 2,000 years ago.

The unique thing about this story is that the cortex of the doctor’s brain was non-functioning due to a severe case of meningitis. He claimed that while in a seven-day coma he experienced a consciousness beyond his own brain consciousness (which was inactive), and this out-of-body consciousness is what Dr Alexander calls heaven.

The third: To Heaven and Back: A Doctor’s Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life Again.
While boating in Chile, Dr Mary Neal was drowned when she was pinned under water in her kayak. She died and went to heaven. She walked down a beautiful path toward a domed structure exploding with beauty, color, and the love of God. But she was stopped, and came back to earth!

She had been dead for 15-25 mins, and this was beyond medical science. She returned to earth with two broken legs and pulmonary problems. Dr Neal returned to her orthopedic surgery after six months of rehab. She conversed with angels on several occasions after she returned”.

Ethan who was listening attentively spoke up. “I haven’t read any of these books, but their stories seem consistent”.
“I’ve read two of the books”, I volunteered, “and they appear to be confirmation of the heaven of the Bible. You would hope that this would impact people who think the heaven of the Bible is just a fairy story”.
“Dang, this does seem like God is trying to get people’s attention”, Ethan stated after his mind had accumulated the data.
“That’s not the end of it”. Jackson pointed one finger toward the sky.

“The fourth event is Tim Tebow:

Tim Tebow in 2012 (click to enlarge and to reference source)

This young man, the son of missionaries, arrived on the national scene when, as quarterback for Florida University, he wrote ‘John 3:16’ on the eye-black under one of his eyes. Focusing under his helmet, the TV camera caught it and displayed it up close, and 90 million people google-searched on the verse from the Bible. Prior to enrolling at the University of Florida, he spent three summers in the Philippines, helping with his father’s orphanage and missionary work.

At Florida, he won the Heisman trophy, and a national championship. Then went on to the NFL pros, where he played for Denver and won a first-round playoff game. For his work ethic and his morality, he became extremely popular, and was a hot topic on all the sports channels.

Millions of Americans watched him play, saw him kneel with head bowed to thank God after a touchdown, and adopted him as a role model for their children. Although his time on the national football scene was short, his influence was great, and his platform for endorsing faith in Jesus was tens of millions……much larger than any mega-church”.

“Awesome!” announced Ethan the sports jock. “I believe this stuff. No question”. He was animated. “Adding all these things together does seem like a God-warning”.
Ethan stood and stretched. “Is that all, or is there more?”

“The fifth event is the Singularity” said Jackson by way of reply.
You have heard that computer power doubles every two years. It’s called Moore’s law. Well if you project that out, you find that computers will exceed the human brain capacity to think, reason, and be creative, by 2023. This date is called the Singularity”
“Is 2023 when God intervenes?” Ethan asked.
Jackson the coangel smiled broadly, but he did not give an answer.

Probing the practice of Christian believers……

And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; this is only the beginning of what they will do; now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible to them. Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. (Genesis, chapter 11).
