Prayer answer – WHATS IN THIS BLOG: • When pain is so bad you cry out in the night • Special song • God-intervention — a prayer answer • Disappointment before joy

We pray about things. And sometimes, when it’s serious, we pray and pray and pray. And sometimes no answer comes from God. Or it appears that way. A recent book called God on Mute  explores unanswered prayer in an honest and refreshing way. The book may shake up our glib beliefs about prayer and the role of suffering.

While I was reading this book, and engaged in wrenching prayer, God provided an answer. I wanted to document it as an engineer would. I am an engineer after all.

I have perused a new book called Visions and Appearances of Jesus by Phillip Wiebe. Phil is a Canadian Christian that I know well. We both studied in graduate school many years ago in Adelaide, Australia. In fact Phil and his wife Shirley helped me to make and arrange copies of my dissertation as I was finishing up. Phillip is professor of philosophy at Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia. In his book Phil documents that Jesus has appeared to people down through history, as well as thirty folks he has recently interviewed personally.… More

We were astonished, and when I asked him, he merely said that he knew we had been there before him. I asked him if he were a Christian, and he laughingly said no.… More

One day last week I received four requests for prayer……all of them urgent and desperate situations. All came on the same day and all from folks that I know personally. When a prayer request is serious I get on my knees and pray as diligently as I can. In simple words I ask that God reach down and touch this person with His healing power.

Many of you do this also. I do it not only because I have been asked, but also because there will be a time when I will want folks to pray for me.… More
