• Asteroids: Chance that earth will be hit again

• Meteor Crater in Arizona • Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed by a meteor • The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs • Mass extinctions on earth and spiritual implications

Last weekend I stopped at the Meteor Crater in Arizona, just before Flagstaff on I40. It’s a giant bowl-shaped cavity in an otherwise flat desert plain. 700 ft deep and almost a mile across. This happened 50,000 years ago, and was caused by a meteor or asteroid about 150 ft across (size of a football field) and moving at 26,000 mph.

The impact struck with an explosive force of 20 million tons of TNT, and created shock waves that spread out over the desert and destroyed everything for several miles.… More “Asteroids that hit the earth: Severe Consequences”

The dire words of Jesus# “The sun will grow dark and the moon will no longer shine” are supposed to be about the End Times. In other words, this is when many Christians believe Jesus will return to earth. In the later 1900’s it looked like The Cold War between the Soviets and the West would lead to a nuclear war, and that would be it. But when the Cold War ended we needed to find another way to darken the sun and dim the moon.

A killer asteroid could do it, we realized, as geologists pieced together evidence that an enormous asteroid (six miles across) had wiped out the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. For example, this asteroid, which crashed near the Yucatan region of Mexico, spewed up an immense cloud of dust and debris that circulated and cooled the entire world.… More “Killer Asteroids and End of the World”

On the last day of May 2013, we watched on TV a line of deadly thunder cells stretched out along a north-east direction. It was crawling eastward toward southeast Kansas where we were staying.

This happens every year in May or June, when the jet stream lies along this concourse and meets warm air from the gulf. It happened on three consecutive days while I was there. My business partner warned me about this on the first day of the storms: “Do not be out driving later in the day” he spoke gravely. “You may die”. He was not kidding.… More “What it Feels like in a Tornado Shelter”
