WHATS IN THIS BLOG: Three positions for Genesis believers. Young Earth Creation (YEC). Theistic Evolution. (Evolution of birds from dinosaurs plus DNA evidence for evolution). Old Earth Progressive Creation. Each position has a dilemma.

This is the third part of a three-part series on creation and evolution. It’s a mix of science and spiritual. The subject here is personal belief, and how your belief compares with others.… More

WHATS IN THIS BLOG: • Overview of creation – evolution. • Where does science succeed and where does it fail? • Fossil evidence for deep time. • How reliable are dating methods? • The bones of John the Baptist. • The dilemma of young earth creation. • Thirsty koala bear in Australian extreme heat drinking water.

On the subject of deep time, this is the second of three parts of a series on creation and evolution.… More

WHATS IN THIS BLOG: • Wonders of the natural world • The hummingbird • Spectacular hikes • Role of consciousness in creation and evolution

This is the first of three parts of a series on creation and evolution. It’s a mix of science and spiritual. I’m motivated by a need for clarity, as I’ve heard statements on the subject that seem way off the mark.… More

Thanksgiving in America is a big deal. It’s the first winter holiday, and the winter can be horrible in the USA, as we found out last week when the latest polar vortex came south. Buffalo received many feet of snow in their football stadium (I have heard numbers from 7 – 12 feet), and the venue had to be shifted to Detroit.… More

First, I was surfing the TV channels when I came across a movie by this title. It was an engrossing high-drama movie, well-acted, and I felt like I was right there in the Middle East when all these things happened to Daniel. What came across strongly was the unmitigated faith that Daniel and his friends had in God. I went straight out and bought the movie, which was produced by an outfit called PureFlix.… More

Integrative Medicine – I have come to respect Dr Andrew Weil. From reading his book Spontaneous Happiness, to seeing him discuss natural remedies for the heart and the lungs on TV with Dr Oz. According to Dr Weil “Following an anti-inflammatory diet can help counteract the chronic inflammation that is a root cause of many serious diseases, including those that become more frequent as people age.” If you right-click on the image, you can then hit print to print it out.… More

So many people have cancer…..something like 1 in 3 in the USA……we all know someone close to us who has contracted it. Yet biomedical scientists have been searching for a cure for 50 years. A conventional treatment often consists of chemotherapy plus radiation, both of which are toxic (poisons) and kill good cells as well as bad cells. This can be a real dilemma to a cancer patient who faces sickness and hair loss and energy depletion while on this regimen, which can last for weeks.… More

I had wanted to visit Chaco Canyon for over 30 years. It’s near the Four Corners area of the USA, about two and a half hours from ABQ. The road is paved except for about 12 miles of unpaved washboard (corrugations) which challenged my new Subaru Forrester (rattle….rattle).

Dedicated to my mother Alison who turned 92 recently, and accompanied us on this family adventure.

I was in Australia in August 2014. Ventured out on two hikes in the first two days I was there. In the Flinders Ranges of South Australia we encountered much natural beauty, but also a mysterious death.

The Flinders Ranges…..greener than I have seen in 50 years due to recent rains (click to enlarge).
